About The Role
Due to a number of internal moves and newly created roles, Countdown has great opportunities for experienced Category Managers/Buyers to join us. This Category Management role will report directly to the Merchandise Manager.

About The Role
Due to a number of internal moves and newly created roles, Countdown has great opportunities for experienced Category Managers/Buyers to join us. This Category Management role will report directly to the Merchandise Manager.
Responsibilities include:
- Identifying and developing ranges
- Sourcing products
- Negotiating with suppliers
- Developing successful buying plans
- Managing indent product
- Determining both local and overseas product trends and converting these into sales
- Designing promotional programs to maximise sales
- Ensuring the product mix achieves the department's financial objectives
- Work collaboratively with Merchandise Manager to ensure effective delivery of strategy
You Will Have:
- Proven buying experience, in Produce
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Creativity and a passion for product development
- Awareness and experience in food safety and legal obligations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability in setting and achieving results
- Proven negotiation skills, sales management, and problem solving skills
- Tertiary qualification in a business or related degree will be highly regarded
