Dave Chambers is Managing Director of Progressive Enterprises. Dave is an experienced retailer with over thirty years experience in supermarkets in Australia and New Zealand.
Dave commenced his career with Progressive Enterprises in 1979 as a schoolboy at Foodtown Glenfield. Since then, his retail management experience has stretched across stores, area and divisional management roles. Dave was Managing Director of Progressive Enterprises from July 2011 to January 2015.
Prior to his return to the role of Managing Director in February 2016, Dave spent a year as Director of Woolworths Supermarkets in Australia.
Chris Fisher is the General Manager for Merchandise
Chris began his retail career at the age of 16, with a part-time role at Argos in the UK. He has since managed buying roles for Gillette manufacturing, Lidl discount and Asda/Wal-Mart. In 2006 he became director of his own business, specialising in the delivery of leading edge analytics to solve complex retail challenges. During his eight years developing that business Chris worked with most of the UK's major supermarket retailers, as well as many of the leading global FMCG companies.
Chris joined the Countdown team in November 2014 as Head of Data and Analytics.
Brett Ashley is General Manager of Operations at Progressive Enterprises. Since commencing his Butchery Apprenticeship with Foodtown in 1975, Brett has accumulated more than 30 years experience with Progressive, in addition to five years spent operating a private business. He has held a variety of roles with the company in Operations, Marketing and Merchandise.
Bridget Lamont is General Manager of Marketing at Progressive Enterprises. She joined Progressive Enterprises in October 2004, after holding various marketing roles at NZ Post, Sky City Entertainment Group, Ezibuy and a number of independent marketing consultancies.
Bridget has previously held senior marketing roles at Progressive Enterprises including Business Manager Customer Engagement and Insight, and Senior Marketing Strategy Manager. Bridget and her team are responsible for all advertising, promotions, brand, customer engagement, customer insight and partner promotions activity for the Countdown brand.
Deborah Beegling is General Manager for Human Resources for Progressive Enterprises and Countdown supermarkets.
Deborah comes from the Woolworths Limited Group as National HR Manager, Group Retail Services, where she was responsible for the broader development of Group Retail Services including the Woolworths multi channel teams and supply chain for the organisation.
Deborah has an extensive background in retail, having served many years with the Woolworths business, where she commenced her career in supermarket operations, moving into roles around the business including corporate support and IT.
Gideon has over 25 years experience in finance, audit and corporate finance, both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
He joined Progressive Enterprises in 1996 and held various finance related positions including Company Secretary, Treasury, Legal and Compliance before being appointed as General Manager Finance and Administration departments from 2000.
Currently an Executive Director of all Progressive's New Zealand companies, his responsibilities now also encompass the Property, Legal and Franchise departments in New Zealand. Before joining Progressive Gideon worked with Price Waterhouse in Auckland and Touche Ross in the United Kingdom.
Liz May is the General Manager of Logistics for Countdown. In her role she leads transport, replenishment, inbound shipping and the national network of Distribution Centres across New Zealand. Liz uses her wealth of knowledge and experience to ensure our stores have the right products on their shelves in order to meet our customers’ demands.
Liz has been with Countdown for over 25 years in various roles from Logistics Manager, to Merchandise Integration Manager. Liz has an extensive background with Countdown going back to when she first joined the company in 1991.
James Walker is General Manager of Corporate Affairs for Countdown. In this role James leads Countdown's corporate affairs strategy, across government relations, media relations and community investment.
Prior to his role with Countdown, James worked for Woolworths Limited in Sydney as a Government Relations Manager. Before the move to retail, he had a seven year career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. James was posted to the Hague in the Netherlands, as New Zealand's Deputy Ambassador, from 2011 - 2013. He also has had policy experience in trade and environmental issues.
