Murray Johnston
- General Manager Merchandise
In April 2008, on secondment from Woolworths Ltd, Murray joined Progressive, as General Manager Merchandise.
Murray joined Woolworths in 1976 and has since held various roles within the business including Regional Manager, Senior Business Manager Perishables, Senior Business Manager Grocery, Merchandise Manager, Category Manager, Store Manager and storeman.
Due to Murray's in-depth knowledge of the supermarket business he has worked on strategic business projects including one that restructured Woolworths operation from six separate State Offices to one national team and another that transitioned the six buying teams to the one Shared Services Team. In 1990 Murray won the Joe Berry Award, a national award open to retailers and manufacturers. In 2002 he won the 'Foodweek Magazine' Retail Executive of the Year which is judged by the Suppliers and Manufacturers of Australia.
